Blood Of The Tyrant: Blood of the tyrant
03/12/12 || The Duff
I’ve taken three years to review this free CD from a band I saw and met in one fuck of a cold Chicago winter. I sweet-talked them with promises of interviews, a review, drugs and groupies, GD-backing that would bring the blowjobs. Their CD was free, but I felt like bullshitting them anyway. That’s how this dick kinda rolls.
Most sincerely, I dig these guys a whole tonne, so I hope they’re still going and can only make amends by reviewing this 4 track EP they so kindly gave over because Blood of the Tyrant are a talented groove-centered band that mixes prog Southern metal a’la Kyuss, Mastodon (we’re talking “Remission”-era) and Baroness with tight, modern production.
For a demo, the production is crisp, sharp-n’-clear, the musicianship tight, and generally just very fucking cool – check out how invaluable my coverage of their record has been worth it here
8 great little nuggets of Southern groove out of 10.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
